Trump Warns of Bigger Strikes After U.S. Bombs Iran’s Key Nuclear Sites
In a
dramatic escalation of the conflict, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on
Saturday night that American forces had carried out airstrikes on three of
Iran’s most sensitive nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. These
locations are central to Iran’s uranium enrichment program, with Fordow and
Natanz being especially fortified and critical to Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Speaking
to the press on Sunday, Trump issued a stern warning: if peace isn’t achieved,
more and even larger attacks could follow. “There will either be peace or there
will be tragedy for Iran,” he said. Trump emphasized that the strikes were
carried out in coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
calling it a team effort.
Netanyahu,
in turn, praised Trump for the bold military action. “This decision will change
history,” he said, applauding what he called a decisive blow to Iran’s nuclear
ambitions.
The
strikes came just two days after the White House had said Trump would make a
decision on Iran “within two weeks.” According to a senior White House
official, Netanyahu had been briefed in advance. The two leaders also
reportedly spoke on Sunday, during which Trump told Netanyahu of the imminent
plan to hit Iran’s nuclear sites.
What
Was Used in the Attack
The
strikes were carried out using B-2 stealth bombers — the U.S. military’s most
advanced long-range aircraft. These bombers dropped GBU-57 Massive Ordnance
Penetrators, known as “bunker busters.”
These
bombs are designed to hit deeply buried targets like the underground facilities
at Fordow. Each one carries a conventional warhead and can penetrate up to 200
feet into the earth before detonating. When used in sequence, multiple bombs
can drill even deeper — effectively destroying underground bunkers that were
thought to be nearly untouchable.
The
B-2 is currently the only aircraft capable of delivering the GBU-57, making it
the U.S. military’s go-to weapon for hitting heavily fortified sites like
Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Trump’s
warning makes it clear: unless there is a shift toward diplomacy, more strikes
— and more powerful ones — could be on the horizon.
