Trump Says Israel-Iran Ceasefire Is Now in Effect

Trump Says Israel-Iran Ceasefire Is Now in Effect

Tensions Ease After Violent Exchange Despite U.S. Warnings

Jerusalem/Tehran/Washington – U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran was now “in effect,” following a tense morning of missile strikes, mutual accusations, and a public scolding from Trump himself.

The truce, brokered by the U.S., was supposed to begin at 7 a.m. Doha time. But in the hours leading up to it, both sides launched intense strikes. Israel hit several ballistic missile sites in western Iran, while Iran responded by firing at least 20 missiles in multiple waves, killing four people and injuring over 20.

Trump, visibly frustrated, slammed both nations for not honoring the ceasefire he had just put in place. Speaking at the White House, he demanded Israel hold back, saying in a post written in all capital letters: “Israel, do not drop those bombs. If you do it is a major violation.”

Despite his warning, Israeli warplanes struck an Iranian radar installation north of Tehran Tuesday afternoon, though they refrained from launching a broader attack.

Both sides later confirmed their acceptance of the ceasefire. Israel said it had achieved its military goals and agreed to the truce proposed by Trump. Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian also signaled readiness to uphold the deal — as long as Israel doesn’t violate it. “If the Zionist regime does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not either,” he told Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in a phone call.

Iranian state media described the barrage of missiles as a final act of “punishment” for Israeli aggression, insisting the military campaign ended only at the very last moment before the truce began. Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, confirmed that some damage had been done to the country’s nuclear infrastructure and said efforts were underway to restore it.

Trump, however, made it clear he would not allow Iran to recover. In another all-caps post, he wrote: “IRAN WILL NEVER REBUILD THEIR NUCLEAR FACILITIES.” He later added: “Both Israel and Iran wanted to stop the war, equally. It was my great honor to Destroy All Nuclear Facilities and capability, and then STOP THE WAR!”

In unusually blunt remarks, Trump criticized Israel for continuing attacks after the ceasefire was announced. “I’m not happy that Israel is going out now,” he said, calling their actions “ridiculous.” He acknowledged that Iran had fired one missile after the ceasefire deadline, but said it missed its target. “These guys gotta calm down,” he said. “They’ve been fighting so long and so hard, they don’t even know what the f**k they’re doing.”

Tensions began to ease after Israeli jets returned from their strike and held their fire, allowing the ceasefire to settle in — at least for now.
