Trump Declares No Engagement with Iran After Strikes on Nuclear Facilities
Washington,
D.C., July 1, 2025 – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has emphatically
ruled out any negotiations with Iran, asserting that the U.S. has already
“obliterated” the country’s key nuclear sites. In a fiery post on his Truth
Social platform on Monday, Trump stated, “I am not offering Iran ANYTHING,
unlike Obama. Nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their
Nuclear Facilities.”
His
comments come amid heightened tensions following joint Israeli-U.S. airstrikes
on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure on June 21. The strikes targeted three major
facilities — Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan — which Washington claims were part of
Tehran’s accelerated nuclear program.
Meanwhile,
Iran has responded cautiously. Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi
said that Tehran has not agreed to resume stalled talks with Washington,
stressing that the continuation of any dialogue hinges on U.S. guarantees
against further military aggression.
“We
have not agreed to any date, we have not agreed to the modality,”
Takht-Ravanchi told media outlets. “Right now we are seeking an answer to this
question: Are we going to see a repetition of an act of aggression while we are
engaging in dialogue?”
The
Iranian official confirmed that the U.S. had shown interest in returning to
negotiations, but insisted that Iran would not proceed unless Washington
clarified its intentions and ruled out future strikes.
“The
U.S. needs to be quite clear on this very important question,” he said, adding
that any diplomatic progress would be impossible under the shadow of continued
military threats.
While
tensions between Tehran and Washington are nothing new, this latest exchange
marks a dramatic escalation following direct military engagement. Iran has also
noted that the U.S. refrained from targeting Iran’s top leadership, signaling a
disinterest in regime change.
