Tensions between Israel and Iran have dramatically escalated, with both sides exchanging heavy strikes that have left dozens dead and many more injured. The situation is quickly unfolding across multiple fronts in the Middle East.
On Sunday, Yemen’s Houthi rebels—who are aligned with Iran—claimed responsibility for launching ballistic missiles at central Israel’s Jaffa area, saying the attack was coordinated with Tehran. Israel’s military, the IDF, has denied any knowledge of the incident.
At the same time, Israel launched a major airstrike on Tehran, hitting key oil infrastructure including the Shahran fuel depot, where at least 11 oil tanks caught fire. Another strike hit Shahr Rey in southern Tehran, home to one of Iran’s largest oil refineries. According to Iranian state media, around 60 people were killed in an earlier attack on a residential complex, including 20 children.
Israel's ongoing airstrikes in Iran have reportedly targeted military facilities, nuclear sites, and even the Iranian Defense Ministry’s headquarters. So far, over 78 people have been killed in Iran, including six top security officials. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned that their response will grow “more ferocious” if Israel doesn’t stop its attacks.
Meanwhile, in Israel, the aftermath has also been deadly. A ballistic missile struck an apartment building in Bat Yam, killing six people and leaving three more trapped in the rubble. Another four died in a separate missile strike in the Arab city of Tamra, east of Haifa. In total, at least 10 people have been killed and over 200 injured in various parts of central Israel.
In a public address, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to keep up the pressure, saying Israel “will strike every site and every target of the Ayatollah’s regime.” The conflict shows no sign of easing, and the region is on edge as both sides brace for what could come next.
